Jonathan De Guzman is looking forward to the first camp in the history of Sole Soccer Camp. The midfielder of Italian giants Napoli has started his own camp to convey his experience as a professional soccer player and former talent to young players from his original hometown.
“I believe starting my own camp will show young soccer players that I am serious about teaching young talented players who want to have the same opportunity that I had at a young age and try to become a professional soccer player,” says the Canadian-born. “I’m very excited to see and teach the young talent Canada has to offer. I remember growing up in Toronto and enjoying going to soccer camps throughout the summer and winter holidays. I always had lots of fun. Now I’m coaching it will be different, but I’m positive it will be a great success.”
It’s not a coincidence De Guzman chooses Toronto to base Sole Soccer Camp. “That’s where I’m from and I want to give the youth a piece of what I learned going overseas at such young age, and eventually throughout all major cities in Canada. The participants can expect to learn a lot from the sessions that I have experienced in Holland, Spain, England and Italy. There is a lot more than just kicking a ball around and having good technique. A lot of it has to do with fitness as well and my training method will also cover those aspects of becoming a complete player.”
The first Sole Soccer Camp will be held from December 21st till December 23rd. Registration is now open!
